The West song cover artowrk.JPG

The Garden

in the garden I once stood

I walked through ivy-covered wood

and the air was sweet with the smell of the earth

after the heavens cried on that wretched dirt

the trees they whispered songs to me

they paved the path with fallen leaves

they beckoned me with what I sought

and wrapped around my ankles as I walked

now my tired bones and weary mind

they grew worse with every step of mine

and the sky turned dark and the weeds grew thick

and around me the vines tightened their grip

they pulled me down to the dampened earth

I made my bed of moss and dirt

and the vines and ivy seemed like home

as they took the life that I had known
